ChartSpan, the largest provider of fully-managed chronic care management programs in the U.S, announced the appointment of Christine Hawkins as its new President and Chief Operating Officer.
Christine is a tenured healthcare executive with more than 20 years of experience leading strategies that improve patient-centric care. Her previous roles at Centene Corporation, Coventry Healthcare, and Molina Healthcare shaped her experience in healthcare quality and risk management, revenue growth strategies, and managing complex operational models.
Christine joins ChartSpan from her previous role as Executive Officer and Regional Vice President at Centene Corporation. Centene is the largest Medicaid managed care payer in the United States, a Fortune 50 company, and ended 2020 generating $111 billion in annual revenue.
In her role at Centene, Christine oversaw operations for the company’s Quality Improvement and Risk Adjustment programs. Additionally, she oversaw the integration of Centene’s Medicare Stars program across 90 national contracts, Medicaid in more than 30 states, and 25 separate HealthCare.Gov contracts. Through Christine’s leadership, Centene improved quality ratings for 24 Medicare contracts, while increasing provider satisfaction and quality performance.
Christine’s early career in healthcare began as a licensed Registered Nurse in the operating room and oncology, giving her a valued clinical perspective in how she leads and manages.
In her new role, Christine will partner with ChartSpan’s leadership team, Board of Directors, employees, and customers to drive operational performance and expand the company’s business lines and products.
“Christine brings a rare, multi-faceted depth of experience from the provider and payer side of healthcare,” said ChartSpan’s Chief Executive Officer and cofounder, Jon-Michial Carter. “Her experience in the enterprise healthcare marketplace as well as small, ambulatory practices is critical in ensuring she can successfully lead ChartSpan and scale our business. We are thrilled to welcome Christine.”
“I am excited to be joining a dynamic team of purpose-driven leaders who are committed to improving health outcomes through strong provider partnerships while introducing the next generation of ChartSpan’s offerings,” said Christine Hawkins.
