ChartSpan Names Christine Hawkins Chief Executive Officer

March 7, 2022 /

ChartSpan, the largest provider of managed Chronic Care Management programs in the U.S, announced the promotion of Christine Hawkins, former President and Chief Operating Officer, as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Christine is a tenured healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience leading strategies that improve patient-centric care. Her previous roles at Centene Corporation, Coventry Healthcare, and Molina Healthcare shaped her experience in healthcare quality and risk management, revenue growth strategies, and managing complex operational models.

In her role at Centene, Christine oversaw operations for the company’s Quality Improvement and Risk Adjustment programs.  Additionally, she oversaw the integration of Centene’s Medicare Stars program across 90 national contracts, Medicaid in more than 30 states, and 25 separate HealthCare.Gov contracts. Through Christine’s leadership, Centene improved quality ratings for 24 Medicare contracts, while increasing provider satisfaction and quality performance.

Christine’s early career in healthcare began as a licensed Registered Nurse in the operating room and oncology, giving her a valued clinical perspective on how she leads and manages.

In her brief time as President and COO, Christine has launched a new product offering, reduced customer churn, and improved numerous operational processes. As CEO she will continue to lead strategy and growth for the entire company.

Jon-Michial Carter, former CEO and Co-Founder of ChartSpan, will be moving into the role of Chief Growth Officer, leading the company’s sales, marketing, and demand generation efforts. He will be focusing on expanding sales into the enterprise space. Jon-Michial will continue to serve on ChartSpan’s Board of Directors.

“Christine’s experience in both the payer and provider verticals makes her ideal to lead ChartSpan,’ said Carter. ‘Her understanding of the complex operational processes required to lead a business like ours and her ability to inspire and lead were proven during the past year in her role as President. She’s the perfect person, at the perfect time, to lead our next chapter of growth.”

Christine was recruited to ChartSpan in early 2021 after a nationwide search, led by a top healthcare executive search firm.

“Over the past year, I have been inspired by ChartSpan’s talented team and its commitment to address the challenges of healthcare through value-based programs. ChartSpan has positioned itself throughout the years as being successful in driving patient engagement and managing patients with chronic conditions towards improved health outcomes. I’m honored to lead ChartSpan in this next phase as we continue to profitably grow the business and transform the way healthcare is delivered.”
